no pics today just a whole lot of FRUSTRATION to say the least!!!!!!!! Since starting school in January I have had a love/hate relationship with my home and brain ;) I have LOVED being there and can't wait to learn each day. Someday's I wish classes went faster so I can take another one, others, I am running praying my feet can keep up, then I come home and repeat the same steps with the kids, dinner, activities and real life. If I could be a professional student, I think I would really like it, however my house, mom and wifely duties would suffer horribly.
That being said AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, that helped a little.
Today I really really lost my brain, and still can't find it. I have a folder that lives in 1 place in my home that houses ALL of our birth certificates, social security cards, immunization records, maybe even my marriage certificate??? and even hubby's dad's birth certificate. It lives in my metal filing cabinet and is not allowed out very often or for very long, think permanent time out. Today was supposed to be Thomas' happiest day of his life. We had scheduled his learners permit test. The state of Utah requires you to have everything except a blood sample to get a learners permit. I knew where most of the required documents live, so I didn't worry about them until just before we left, remember the not allowed out for very long statement. When I went to get them THEY WERE GONE, missing I tell you, ran away with the dish and spoon AAAAAAA. We both prayed and searched, and prayed some more, and searched everywhere I could possibly think of. Maybe I got a crazy idea and let hubby put them in the business filing cabinet, so I searched through that, NOTHING!!! I even called hubby because I remember at one point him thinking he should put them somewhere else. He remembers no such conversation... breath in, breath out... After searching for an hour, I took T to school and apologized PROFUSELY!!!!! He is taking it well. Thankfully he has football today after school and that will help him use up all his aggression right? Good news, it has lit a fire under me to really over haul and dump all sorts of stuff in the house. 1 big bag down... wish me luck

EMILY
Can I just tell you, I LOVE that my phone can update my blog. Maybe I will be around more often :D
This is a project I have been working on for MONTHS. I have been doing a little at a time during school and not making a ton of progress, but I feel good about it as I have been working on a few projects simultaneously. I have a butterfly mobile and a magnet board still to finish but at least started. She is off track for 2 more days so hopefully we can crank them out. Many of you have asked me to make it for you, uummmm NO, but here are the supplies I used...
letters E, I, L, and Y are from Roberts in their unfinished wood section
M is an 11 x 14 canvas
paper (except turquoise)and chipboard cutouts are Crate Paper designed by my awesome friend Lori Whitlock
Turquoise is a VERY old Provo Craft paper from back when I worked for them.
Brown bazzil cut for M using the Storybook cartridge and Cricut
misc rhinestone brads (SEI) and rhinestone stickers (Prima I think)
brown, turquoise, and pink craft paint (background of the M is freehand painted)
Mod podge
small prima flowers
glue dots
Basic Instructions:
Use letters as a template to cut out each pattern paper. Paint all letters edges brown and let dry. Mod podge base paper to all letters. I sanded the paper where it hung over the letters after the mod podge dried. Apply ALL paper to each letter with mod podge but make sure each coat is dry. When dry I coated each letter with another coat of mod podge. When all paper is adhered and dry, add 3D embellishments
E
using large scallop pattern scissors cut from dark pink a border for the left side and place overhanging the edge. Add turquoise circle near the bottom right. Apply mod podge. Add bling to turquoise. Then add the bird and black curly chipboard accent
Add brown ribbon 1/4 centimeter in from the scallop border and ribbon knots to top as well as chipboard accent.
M
background is painted freehand on the canvas then coated with mod podge, letter applied, then another coat after first dried. Small green prima flowers were added in a circular shape, like a hydranga bloom, with small silver brads. Before taking the picture I forgot to add more small clear bling, like on the E, as the inner shape of the M. I am toying with hanging it with purple ribbon but I don't have any at the moment thus havn't decided. Any opinions?

cut the background out of 2 different papers, 1 full size the other in the wavy shape, then mod podge onto wood and add a final coat. add ricrac. Center of flower (circle and flower) is 2 seperate chipboard accents, layered then hung with wire twisted around a pencil and taped to back of element and the letter I. Large pink flower from Heidi Swapp is placed behind chipboard. Tied ribbon knots and purple tag are added for leaves. Her birthday numbers are on the purple tag.

covered in dark brown paper. Use large zigzag scissors for turquoise border on the inside. Mod podge all layers to wood, remember to allow for drying time. Add misc brads to inside of flowers and adhere in a 'row' with glue dots.
Y
after covering letter with paper, final coat with mod podge, add chipboard accents. Back the large white flower with a turquoise circle to make it stand out. Add tied ribbon knots to bottom of green chipboard curly element

time to myself
I have been lucky these past 2 days and have been sick, so i have stayed hidden in my room and spent some time surfing and reading LOTS of blogs. They included many different subjects, crafting, decorating, sewing, friends pages, heath, exercise and the list goes on. I was able to take some notes about things i want to do and be reminded of projects waiting in the wings. But most of all i was able to reflect on the things that have happened in my life. I come from a line of strong women, a few that have lost their husbands and been a lone for a long time, some that have struggled with health problems for the majority of their lives, but all of them taught me many valuable lessons both by example and stories told me by their children. I feel as though i have a treasure chest of information about who i am and what i come from. I have very few tangible things to remind me of the values and substance of who these woman were, but i have many objects that i inherited at their passing and those things stand for many lessons i have learned at their hands.
First off is my grandma Yvonne. Such an amazing lady. Her house was always immaculate, wish i could be more like her that way. She was the first one, I remember, to put her arms around me and truly listen to my heart and understand my struggles, then tell me that having kids as close as i have was difficult and she knew i could do it. Then proceeded to tell me about her children, which includes my mom. At one point i was given 4 green ducks that i have cherished. She likened the ducks to being a mother and how each of our children have their own agency and personality. Her pep talks were so loving.
She was also very creative, i don't know if i realized how much until i was much older and realized that there were many people that are not creative. She taught me that nothing was impossible, you just do it, and so we did. She taught me how to crochet, knit, quilt/piece by hand, create things out of nothing, like lampshades, pillows, and how to decorate and set tables, wrap presents perfectly. She also oil painted, read, played the piano and organ and loved to hear me play, braided rugs from old clothing, cross stitched, redid furniture, and anything else she thought might be enjoyable, nothing stood in her way. She taught my mom these skills, who taught me, and i am now teaching my daughter. I am so grateful for her creative spirit, it drives me. It makes me be alive. As i was searching through blogs i saw MANY projects that she has already done at some time in her life. Bookcases with fabric/decorative paper/wood at the back, repurposing furniture, shopping her own home, keys in frames, large frames as shadow boxes, fancy decorative mirrors in the bathroom. Im sure i could go on but my brain has stopped. I am very blessed.

soccer
Another one of our pastimes is watching soccer, basketball or whatever Nate chooses to play. Last year he started playing for a comp soccer team and loves it. This year our team changed clubs, thus a uniform change as well. He wasn't too sure about the red at first but the socks sucked him in. If you look at them they have an X across the back and he thought that was great. He plays left wing and center mid or forward. He is happy just being on the field. He is getting more confident every game, which also means more aggressive. Sometimes its justified but sometimes he looks like he is playing football with T.
He has had a hard time trying contacts, so we got him some sports goggles that have transition lenses so for outdoor they are sunglasses, he loves that, but hates to wear them cause he sweats. After many disagreements with mom, and a few balls kicked in his face, and his glasses nearly falling off when running and i'm sure there are others, he finally puts them on faithfully. It's nice to be appreciated for something, even if it is pointing out the obvious (some of us don't see the obvious as soon as others).
Nate has learned so much with this team. I am so proud of him for his efforts in getting better. He is constantly asking someone to go practice with him. He has really learned to LOVE soccer.
